The film “Ghost Adventures” by Zak Bagans and Nick Groff that aired 7/25/07 at 8 p.m. (central) on the Sci-Fi channel, had me on the edge of my chair for several moments over the course of the film. It’s just the three of them in the first part (with their friend Aaron) and just them two in the second half. Unlike the show “Ghost Hunters” there is no large crew staking out the places they visit.
They didn’t have a ton of equipment, like EMF (electro-magnetic field) detectors, no temperature gauges, just the camera and digital audio for EVP recording (electronic voice phenomena). Although inexperienced and with a relatively lo-tech setup, they did manage to catch some of the most convincing evidence of ghosts on video to date. There’s a lot more casual moments in their hunt than on “Ghost Hunters” (wed.’s on Sci-Fi). For example we find them sleeping in some parts, with very unguarded moments at other times. Which, in my opinion if ghosts do exist, would entice them to “come out and play.” Just the lack of a large crew taking over the area is a huge advantage.
For anyone mildly interested in the paranormal this movie will definitely entertain and excite you. I’ll leave the key moments to your imagination until you see the film, (they startled me that’s for sure.) Although there is a lot of the movie where their inexperience shows through, it’s worth it for those two key moments when they find real evidence and capture it on tape.
Okay those in need of instant gratification can hear my opinion on the ’scary moments’ right now. The best is when Zak walks into that one room in the old hotel that they were locked into saying “are you the one makin’ all that noise?”. Then the brick flies across the room and the board falls, and then he flips out runs off, only to be found a short time later in a freaked out daze… I almost crapped my pants, that was truly exciting, fraud or no fraud, that was great television.

Came for the article, stayed for the Charlie Parker. I just saw the movie myself. I have to wonder about the ‘fraud or no fraud’ myself. If it WASN’T a fraud, I’d like to have T.A.P.S. do their own investigation of the Goldfield Hotel. I’d like you to keep in mind that T.A.P.S. has been doing their thing for about 3 or 4 years longer than they’ve had a television show. They’ve had some of their own moments and likely NOT fraudulent considering that SOME of what is caught on the various media they use is immediately dismissed by the T.A.P.S. crew members as “interesting but not hard enough evidence.”
Thanks for the jazz time! Be sure to watch the T.A.P.S. gang in Europe this upcoming season. In America we have 200 years approx. for them to investigate but where they’re going THIS season has had a couple thousand years of building, killing, rebuilding, more killing etc.

Ghost adventures was definitely a fresh approach for TV. I’m wondering when sci fi will broadcast the show again.
TAPS in Europe is going to be really interesting.

I’ve never seen footage as bizarre as what I viewed on the Ghost Adventures documentary. I’m so glad they are getting their own TV show this fall.

Their own show? cool, let’s hope they stick to a somewhat scientific method. Ghost Hunters International took a bruising because it was too much like those lame travel channel ghost hunting shows. The TAPS teams shows us their is a huge audience for the more scientific method of Ghost Hunting.

I went with that crew into the Goldfield Hotel in February and I must say that some things in Ghost Adventures ring very true. I documented this trip at http://www.squidoo.com/goldfieldhotel
