Chiefs Have Found Their Identity

November 2, 2007 · 3 Comments

The return of horse wranglin’ Jared Allen in week 3 has helped the Chiefs find their identity this year: a tough nosed strong top 5 defensive team, with 2 great receivers in Gonzalez and Bowe. Now, if Larry Johnson gets his act together  (questionable) and the offensive line picks up a player or two in the draft or free agency next year, this is a top 5 team.

Currently believe it or not they are #11 in ESPN power rankings. GM Carl Peterson has guaranteed Chiefs fans and Jared Allen he will be a Chief next year, making around 10 million or so if they slap the franchise tag on him. Allen really has stepped up, stopped partying so damn much, gotten involved in local media, and been a leader and motivator for this team. You could not say that last year, he was good, but he wasn’t the team leader he obviously is this year.

Some think Herm Edwards should be coach of the year, with a lot of people only expecting the Chiefs to win 3 or 4 games, but now they sit at 4-3 with a real shot at going 8-8 and into the playoffs if they manage to win 9 or 10 games. This week? Chiefs 24 – Packers 16.

Brett Farve is awsome, but plan on Jared Allen sacking him and making him look his age this Sunday. Chiefs Win.

okay I have to comment on this post because the Chiefs royally blew it the second half of this season,…wow! Has much as I would love to believe Herm’s words of wisdom, I’m not sure he DOES have a plan for this team……

Chiefs did do pretty shitty this year…losing Trent Green didn’t help any, and yes Bret had a terrific year but a bad ending. I’m more of a Madden/mmorpg player but I like to watch around playoff time.
