Giuliani: The Real Story

November 9, 2007 · 5 Comments

I really don’t understand the supposed widespread support from republicans for Giuliani. I mean his nomination would nullify a lot of the attacking points the republicans have for Hilary, and make Bill Clinton an even more vital asset. I mean when I show you just some of the simple facts that can be quickly gathered about Mr. Giuliani you’ll understand just how easy it will be for the democrats to tear him apart.

He has not one but two estranged ex-wives. In 1968, he married his cousin, Regina Peruggi. They divorced 14 years later. Giuliani married Hanover in 1984 and they divorced in 2002. He has been married to Judith Nathan since 2003. Not to mention the multiple mistresses who helped break up his marriages.

He has two kids who he doesn’t even like talking about, a son who has stated he will not campaign with his father, and a daughter who publicly supports Barak Obama for president.

He is a major flip flopper that makes John Kerry look like a man who sticks to his guns. Giuliani has flipped and flopped on some major republican sticking points; immigration, abortion, and gay marriage.

Giuliani appointed a New York city police commissioner that he knew had ties to the mob. He had been briefed on Kerik’s connections to the mob in 2000 when Kerik was tabbed for the police commissioner post. Kerik’s nomination proceeded with Giuliani’s knowledge of his shady past, and Kerik never even completed a background check.

Giuliani is loved by a certain and small section of the GOP that wants to move the party to the left on social issues, but considers him strong on defense.

They also don’t care that much about his fiscal ineptitude, as long as they get the leftward motion on social issues.

As for the breadth of his support … frankly, … he’s marketing well. All he has going for him is 9/11, since his record as a mayor and as a human being is dismal. But he’s convincing people that only he can beat Hillary Clinton, and that he hates terrorists more than other candidates.

I don’t know why anyone trusts him.

In my circles, I know more people who will vote third party than people who will vote Giuliani.

PS: I hope to come back sometime to talk a little Philosophy of Art. I did a seminar on that subject with Cy Twombly, and happen to be a huge fan of Tom Wolfe’s “Painted Word”.

    Cheers, Karl

In the work “Painted Word” Wolfe is as bad as the guru-critiques that he criticizes for making modern art too academic. The book is kind of a redundant oxymoronic catch 22 if you ask me. Modern art for me is a very natural organic thing, not at all what Wolfe paints it to be. Frankly why would anyone listen to somebody talk about painting that is not a painter? This includes not only Tom Wolfe but ‘insider’ art critiques has well.

OH, and isn’t married to the guy who was bombing the crud out of eastern Europe, blew up the Chinese Embassy while doing it and then the U.S. just HAPPENED to fall prey to a ‘rocket technology thief’ who wound up giving it to the Chinese. Riiiiiight Silly Billy, riiiiight. Tell your wife that the lawyer tactic of “show ‘em, then withdraw” regarding drug use and some completely untrue religious affiliation.

I didn’t finish my statement… tell her they won’t work when it comes to people who know better. We’re getting out the word on her Bill.
