Hello readers! Being an artist firmly grounded in the realm of spiritual and abstract expression, I sometimes get comments on this site, (also on my modernartquotes.com) from artists or viewers who are firmly grounded in the very boring world of recreating reality with their art. To them I say – buy a camera! I too can hypnotize people with my amazing ability to draw a vase of flowers exactly has it appears, but choose not to, booooring. The only interesting vase of flowers ever painted were by Van Gogh, more than a century ago. A painting of a still life is boring and should probably be burned. I appreciate all comments and all readers, but if you are insecure and jealous and make anti-abstract art comments because it’s something you don’t like or don’t understand, don’t bother, I will only delete them. Please refer to my post: I Hate Pretty Art.

People need new hobbies. I have better things to do than trash other people’s tastes in art.
I don’t get Dali. The stuff does nothing for me. Other people do. What’s wrong with that?
I do, however, like Picasso. I think that there’s room in the world for people with all kinds of different tastes. If not, why bother having a whole world?
On the other hand, I love music, which is probably the most abstract form of art there is.

Thank you wickle! I do respect and welcome comments from people who can voice their opinion in a respectful manner even if I may not agree with it….. Picasso and Dali I love all of it…..lol…..music is great….is rock’n'roll to classical music as abstract expressionism is to classical painting?

Maybe … in a way, I think that non-lyrical (including classical) music is as abstract an anything can get. Sure, the music might draw out of me an image of a country brook and whatnot, but it certainly isn’t representational.
I would think that as visual arts have moved from classical/representational forms, music has moved the other direction — a lot less impression and feel, more emphasis on lyrics.
But that’s my take. My artistic talent is just about limited to the Polaroid school of creativity.

no I agree, classical music can be a very, whats the word, surreal? experience, the music forming almost images and words sometimes in your mind when there are none in the music…
